Momentum Pendulum

Once your home is organized, maintaining momentum is what keeps it organized! It’s much easier to do small, consistent tasks as a part of your routine than to overhaul your entire home once it’s become cluttered. Here are some tips for keeping up your momentum.

Consistency

Maintaining your space is an ongoing process, not a one-time event. Every day, every week, every season, every year, make a commitment to consistency. If putting items back where they belong when you’re done with them is part of your daily routine, your home will stay organized, and you’ll stay less stressed.

Focus

Maintaining focus means keeping your goal in mind. You can make a daily checklist to keep your organization tasks on track or set aside a few minutes each day to put things back in their homes. Talk to friends and family about your progress to keep it fresh in your mind.

Diligence

Once you’ve got a routine that works for you, don’t drop your guard! Ask a friend or family member to check in on you once and a while to keep you on track. If you notice your routine start to slide, take a breath and get right back to it. We all slip up sometimes, but diligence will make your organization practice become second nature.
